FAQ

1. I've requested an appointment- what next?

We will contact you to confirm a suitable time for your appointment. Feel free to bring some loved ones with you for opinions and support! We recommend no more than 3-4 people, but we can always facilitate additional appointments if you'd like to show your gown choices to anyone who can't make it to the original appointment.

2. What should I wear to my appointment?

We recommend comfortable clothing that's easy to change in and out of. If you'd like to bring a strapless bra or skin coloured undergarments with you, it might help to get an idea of the finished look. Feel free to bring some comfortable heels.

We have no problem with a little tan or makeup but we ask that you keep bronzer, lip gloss and instant tan to a minimum to avoid transfer onto our dresses.

3. How long does it take to order a gown?

We recommend a minimum of nine months for a bridal gown to allow for shipping and alterations. For bridesmaids we recommend at least six months. We can arrange express orders and express alterations for an extra charge.

4. Can I buy a dress off the rail?

Yes- we keep our dresses in great condition and have new styles arriving every week, so if you see a dress you like that fits, we're almost always happy to sell it off the rail, especially if there is little time to order. In-store alterations can be booked and express charges may apply.

5. Are alterations included in the price?

No. The price you pay is for the dress and any additional fabric or decoration such as extra appliques, belts or sleeves. We offer an in-store alteration service at a subsidised price, for gowns purchased at The One I Love only. Our standard alteration service fee covers length, shoulder and sides. Should you require more complex changes or additional details, we will quote you before work is started.

6. I've found my dream gown at The One I Love. What are my payment options?

We accept all major cards, cash and bank transfer. To place an order, a minimum of 50% deposit is required, with the balance upon delivery to the store. Payment must be made in full before any alterations begin. If you choose to pay in full, you may qualify for a discount. Payment plans may be possible depending on ordering time. For dresses bought off the rail, payment in full is required to complete the sale.

7. How many fittings will I need?

If you have chosen our in store alteration service, you will be advised of the number of expected fittings for your gown. Our two most important fittings are at the six week and two week marks. The number of fittings can vary depending on the style, any changes in your figure, and whether you have started fittings before your recommended time frame. Earlier fittings do not result in earlier collection dates. We strongly advise that you take your seamstress's advice if additional visits are required and also regarding your collection date. We understand our customers may have busy schedules and we offer evening and weekend fittings to facilitate this. Out of hours appointments may incur additional fees.

8. When do I collect my gown?

If you have chosen to avail of our in store alteration service, your gown will be ready for collection within the week of your event. We recommend collecting your gown freshly pressed and steamed and transporting directly to the place you intend to get ready at, or a suitable storage place if you are getting ready at your venue.

If you choose to collect your gown earlier than recommended, neither The One I Love nor our LBD in-store alteration service will be responsible for fit on the day.

If you choose to collect and subsequently bring your gown to a third party for further alterations, this is not covered under your alteration service at The One I Love.

Please ensure you have checked and fitted your gown before your final alteration payment. If you arrange to have someone collect your gown on your behalf, we cannot perform any final fit checks so for this reason we highly recommend collecting your gown in person. Should any last minute changes require an additional fitting,  we will always prioritise your gown according to wear date.
